WORLD WAR II NONFICTION

"Never in Doubt: Remembering Iwo Jima" Edited by Lynn Kessler with Edmond B. Bart

This is the story of Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen that participated in the battle for Iwo Jima. The book is made up of personal accounts of the campaign from enlisted men and lower ranking officers: the ones that were in the jaws of hell.

That these men were brave there is no doubt. That they faced a fierce and determined enemy with the high probability of death or permanent injury, without hesitation, is amazing. The personal insights and reflections of these men 50 years after their season in hell is a bonus that fans of military history should not miss.
