"STARFIST BOOK III: Steel Gauntlet" by David Sherman and Dan Cragg

The planet Diamonde has been taken over by a corporation and all opposition disposed of. Since Diamonde is a strategically important planet, there is no choice but to take it back. But the corporation has a powerful weapon that has not been used in hundreds of years: tanks! The weapons to counter heavy tanks have long passed from use and those that remain are in museums. Company L, 34th FIST (Fleet Initial Strike Team) is rushed there to establish a beachhead and hold until the heavy army forces can be dropped. Problem, they only have limited antitank weapons, and the army can't get its act together. The fighting is heavy and fast and we lose a few of our heroes along the way. But Sgt Charlie Bass, Lance Corporals Dean, Claypool, and Hammer Schultz are in the thick of it all. Top Sgt Myer is his usual gruff self, and Brigadier Sturgeon does all he can to keep his boys alive.

These books have great characters and a lot of action. The weapons and tactics are well thought out and the scenarios and bad guys make for great reading. The authors are combat veteran NCOs from Viet Nam, Sherman a Marine, and Cragg a Soldier. You can tell from the feel of these books that they draw from personal experience.
