"Heroes Die" By Matthew Woodring Stover

This is an imaginative, different, and exciting book. In the future, a decadent mankind is entertained by living first-hand the adventures of highly skilled actors sent on adventures by being transported to a planet called Overworld. These actors face real life and death situations. One actor, Caine, the most popular is having problems. His estranged wife, another actor, is in danger on Overworld. The bureaucrat that runs the studio and owns Caine's soul, has it in for him, and his assignment on Overworld is all but impossible. Go along for the ride as Caine kicks ass and takes few names. There is to be a sequel in the spring of 2000, "The Fist of Caine".
