This is one of the best books I have read. It takes place in the mid-70's in Portland Oregon. Hansen is an ex-special forces Viet Nam veteran and now a beat cop. He has an attitude problem with his superiors. He is also in the North District where the toughest crime problems are. He has a grudging kind of respect for the people in his area, even though most of them hate him. But he is fair and tries to dispense his own brand of justice. Meet his partner, his loves, his hates, and his foes within and without the force. You will be acquainted with some of the strangest and wackiest people to exist in literature. Ride along with Hansen on his beat. Don't miss the ride!
