"Tomahawk" By David Poyer

It is always a pleasure to read anything by Poyer. This modern naval series starring Den Lenson is as good as it gets. This series consists of "The Passage", "The Circle", The Gulf", "The Med", and now "Tomahawk", and the just released "China Sea". These books are accurate technically, well written, and on the mark politically (inside and outside the military).

Dan Lenson is assigned to the Tomahawk Project Office due to his background and experience in engineering. Dan fights Chinese spies, substandard contractors, alcohol, estrangement from his daughter and ex-wife, involvement with anti-war protesters, and other problems, to bring the Tomahawk operational to the fleet. This book keeps you involved to the last page rooting for Dan to hang in there. When the Tomahawk gets it first real test, there is plenty of real action.
