"God's Children" by Howard Coyle
A dismounted mechanized platoon, led by an
inexperienced lieutenant is caught behind the lines when the Slovakians break
the truce and continue their ethnic cleansing of Hungarians. Things get very
nasty and the unit spends several days fighting against both Slovakians and
Hungarians to get back to their own peacekeepers and safety. Fortunately, 2nd
Lt. Reider has the experienced 1st Lt. Nathan Dixon along to get them through,
but not without much fighting and some casualties.
Coyle is an expert at putting the reader in the middle of the action. This book
is a great study of small unit combat in the modern world. Blessed be the
peacekeepers, for they are God's Children.
