"The Fort at River's Bend" by Charles Whyte

Book 5 in the Camulod Chronicles

Cius Merlyn Britannicus, leader of Camulod, takes his charge young Arthur into seclusion in the ruins of a long deserted Roman fort. It is there that Arthur grows and is educated in the arts of war. This fort, inland from Rivenglass, half way up the Isle of Britain on the Western Coast, is under the ownership and protection of King Derek, the slayer of Uther, Arthur's father. He is also responsible for the death of Arthur's mother by accident. In spite of these facts, Derek proves to be a faithful friend to Merlyn and Arthur.

The book has some exciting times, a few battles, discovery of knowledge, along with a little sex to liven things up. This book is not a bad read. I have read the previous four novels, which I found more appealing and will review them as time permits. Overall, this is a good telling of the legend in a realistic manor. This epic begins with the end of the Roman occupation of Britain.
