The evil demon lord Anharat has returned to the world and threatens to bring back the demon hosts to retake the world. To do this, three kings must be sacrificed. The first two have been slain and the last needed to complete the spell is the unborn child of queen Axiana. Three old soldiers; Nogusta the blade master, Kendra the bowman, and Bison the uncouth take on the job of saving the babe. They are joined by the young captain Dagorian, a priestess Ulmenetha, and a turncoat Ventrian general, Karios. Together they battle demons, monsters, and Krayakin warriors (with a little help from old friends). Another great tale of the Drenai series that stands on its won.
If you are a fan of action and fantasy, read everything by Gemmell.
