American Revolutionary War

"All the Proud Ships" by Charles E. Friend

A wily Captain, an experienced 1st Lieutenant, and a game crew, take on the Royal Navy aboard a converted merchantman of the Continental Navy. The events in this book take place during the early part of the American Revolution and are based on actual events. The characters are engaging, the action hot, and the tactics of engagement and sailing are well described. This book is as good as any of those by O'Brian, Pope, Kent, Lambdin, Nelson, Marryat, Forester, and Woodman. I found this book at a used bookstore and it is a real treasure that deserves to be a best seller. It can be ordered through the publisher and amazon.com
