AGE OF SAIL - FICTION

"Monsoon" by Wilbur Smith

Part of the Courtney Family Saga

In the late 1600's, Arab pirates are praying on British East India Company ships. Captain Hal Courtney outfits a privateer and takes his three youngest sons, Tom, Guy, and Dorian with him to hunt down and destroy the pirates. They make the mistake of leaving the oldest son William home to run the estate. They find and destroy the pirate nest, but Dorian is captured and Hal is fatally wounded. The ship returns home but along the way, Guy leaves at South Africa, due to a parting of the way with Tom over the love of a girl.

Back in England, William tries to kill Tom, but he escapes and with a captured French brig, goes back to East Africa to find Dorian. Meanwhile, Dorian recovers and becomes a prince in Oman where he is sent to hunt down the raiders who are attacking the slavers slave caravans that are a great source of Oman income. But these raiders are Tom and his party looking for Dorian or any information about him.

Great action on land an sea, sex, treachery and adventure. What fun! Wilbur Smith is one of the best.
