"The Captain from Connecticut" By C. S. Forester

During the war of 1812, Captain Peabody, along with 1st Lieutenant Hubbard and crew aboard the frigate Delaware, slip out of Long Island Sound, run the British blockade, and cause much confusion and mayhem to the British. There are several naval engagements, ending when the Delaware if faced by the British ships Racer and Bulldog. The clipper Calypso interferes, and the governor of Fort-de-France prevents the engagement, all ships being in French territory and neutral waters. How to escape the British? Peabody meets his lady love Ann, the niece of the governor and the British commander falls for her mother. There is much maneuvering by the two sides to get the upper hand. But, all ends well and thus another great read by the master. This is Forester's only novel about the American Navy.
